Joni’s Rock Corner: Thru You – Kutiman: Music for the next generation
What do you get when you take multiple samples of different musicians found on Youtube and fuse them all together. You’d think it would result in complete chaos but not when Ophir Kutiel, fondly known as Kutiman, takes the controls.
In his initial project, ThruYOU 1, Kutiman mixed samples of Youtube videos. Time Magazine called it one of the 50 best inventions of 2009. Joni’s Rock Corner: Rodrigo Y Gavriela
Rodrigo and Gavriela are two acoustic / classic guitar players who give new life to rock and pop classics and have become great favourites on YouTube. The have recently released a new album called 11:11 which according to there Myspace site was recorded in Ixtapa, Mexico and comprises of 11 self written compositions. Their initial album, simply titled Rodrigo y Gabriela was released in 2006 and has sold over a half a million copies worldwide.
