From The Department Of It’s A Strange Web Isn’t It?, here is yet another example of what bored people find to do with their spare time. The people involved with  the Bodycounters do just that. They sit through a movie and count every body!!

“Beginning in 2006, The Bodycounters took on a very special mission.  Their goal: to count every body.  Their humble beginnings -  bored, depressed, and full of Miller Lite – have now led to a higher purpose.  They have chronicled their findings painstakingly under extreme conditions.  They have risked life and limb to keep their tallies, and now they bring them here to you. ”  

They even have rules:

  1. Every body counts.  This includes cats, dogs, flies, aliens, cows, and even engagements.
  2. Fresh bodies only.  Pre-existing bodies (deaths that did not happen during the course of the movie) do NOT count.
  3. Dream sequences do NOT count, but flashbacks DO.
  4. People that get turned into zombies and then die only count once.  After all, it’s the same body.
  5. Clones count individually.  After all, it’s a different body.
  6. There must be strong evidence supporting the death in the event there is no actual body. 
    (A verbal statement that someone is dead does not count.  This is simply hearsay.)
  7. Fiction within fiction does not count. 
  8. Alive until proven dead.  If you have a reasonable doubt that they might have survived, you can’t count it. It’s like court and shit.
  9. Never count bodies alone.
  10. Sobriety is expressly forbidden. (This one is more like a guideline, really.)

So what have they found?  Here are a few examples:

Magnolia -  8, a dog, and a whole LOT of frogs

300 – 3,971 people, 1 battle rhinocerous, 3 elephants, 1 giant wolf and a big orc-looking dude

The Last Samurai – 1,562 people and 30 horses

Time Bandits – 37, plus 1 minotaur, 1 rat, 1 Evil Genius and everyone that died on the Titanic

Platoon -  569 and a pig

The Simpsons Movie – 2, plus all 3 members of Green Day, 77 fish and 24 swallows

The Running Man – 18 before the opening titles ended, 60 innocent men, women & children, 4 stalkers and then 14 more people

Who Framed Roger Rabbit – 2 people and 7 toons.
