The Japanese eat little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
The French eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
The Italians drink a lot of red wine and they, too, suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
Conclusion: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Recent surveys have shown that you mustn’t eat red meat, but a steak a week is good for you. Coffee is bad for you but coffee is good for you. Beer is definitely healthier than  water and in Nicuragua  they seem to think cola is a health drink. Confused? Then look at the facts.

COLA:  Coca Cola in Nicaragua is trying to market itself as a healthy drink. On a local cola bottle the label reads (translated for your pleasure) . ‘Wellbeing Movement – Commited drop to only (!) 100 calories, or 5% of your daily diet – contains thousands of smiles – a good source of hydration – a drink low in sodium. TO emphasise the point the bottom of the label reminds you that :  ’Walking 30 minutes every day and smiling is part of your wellbeing.’

BEER:  The Sun  claims that Going to the pub is good for you – and having a pint while you are there is even better. The site gives  10 reasons you should  drink beer:

1) It helps you to relax
2) Moderate beer consumption protects the body from Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium which causes stomach ulcers and is associated with cancer of the stomach.
3)  There is no link between the amount you drink and the chances of developing a beer belly, a study by University College London found.
4)  It  is naturally rich in silicon, a mineral that helps strengthen bones and protects against the brittle bone condition osteoporosis. The silicon comes from grains used in brewing and is readily absorbed by the body.
5)  A study of 5,000 British men found that those drinking a couple of pints a day significantly reduced their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
6) It contain polyphenols, which cut levels of bad LDL cholesterol. Scientists in Portugal discovered that beer was most effective at combating breast cancer – so take the missus along for a pint as well.
7) It is rich in vitamin B6, which stops build-up of homocysteine, a chemical linked to increased risk of heart attacks. Ethanol, the alcohol in beer, also helps by thinning blood and by boosting levels of the “happy” HDL cholesterol.
8) Scientists in Finland found that men drinking a bottle of beer a day cut their risk of getting kidney stones by 40 per cent. They think this is because beer contains diuretics, which help flush out the kidneys.
8) The  average pint contains 20 per cent of the daily recommended dose of fibre, which helps lower cholesterol. It’s also packed with B-group vitamins. There are only around 200 calories in a pint, less than in a jacket potato.
9) A Dutch  study of the over-50s found people who had one to three small beers a day had a 42 per cent lower risk of dementia than tee-totallers. But the risk rises again if you’re a heavy boozer.
10) Darker  ales in particular contain antioxidants that halve the risk of cataracts, an age-related eye problem, according to the University of Western Ontario.

COFFEE

Latest research has not only confirmed that moderate coffee consumption doesn’t cause harm, it’s also uncovered possible benefits. Coffee may reduce the risk of developing gallstones, discourage the development of colon cancer, improve cognitive function, reduce the risk of liver damage in people at high risk for liver disease, and reduce the risk of Parkinson’s disease. Coffee has also been shown to improve endurance performance in long-duration physical activities.

CHOCOLATE:  Surveys  about chocolate prove….. Oh who cares what they say? Nobody wants to live without chocolate right?
