In India 665 million citizens, almost half the population, have no access to a toilet. Strange as it would appear, Thomas Crapper’s infamous water closets seem to have failed to catch on in the land of Bollywood. What goes without saying in the West, is often considered a luxury there. Now a new campaign is attempting to bring the toilet into the home. As it gains popularity, more and more young ladies are refusing to wed without receiving a guarantee that the marriage vows be accompanied by a toilet fixture. The campaign is proving to be a huge success and since it’s inauguration over 1.4 million toilets have been installed.
