Archaeologists prove that the Hobbits and Fred Flinstone actually existed
It is final. Archaeologists have proven that Tolkien was right and there really were Hobbits. ScienceDaily reports researchers from Stony Brook University Medical Center in New York have confirmed that Homo floresiensis is a genuine ancient human species and not a descendant of healthy humans dwarfed by disease. Using statistical analysis on skeletal remains of a well-preserved female specimen, researchers determined the “hobbit” to be a distinct species and not a genetically flawed version of modern humans. In a related article the International Inquirer has stated that irrevocable evidence has been found to back their theory that Fred Flintstone actually existed More >
Priceless Beatles Record Found: Not a Hoax! Acclaimed as the Rarest Beatle Album in the World
What you see above is the cover of Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Or is it? Look a little closer and you’ll see that the faces on the members of the band don’t resemble any known beatle, and who are those people in the background. No this isn’t yet another piece of photoshop magic. This sealed album was found in a record collection of late Capital Records executive. It came to light when his widow gave the collection for appraisal to John Tefteller, owner of Tefteller’s World’s Rarest Record Store. “He had a collection of mainly jazz and easy-listening More >
The New World Concentration Span: The advantages of Fast Forwarding are grossly exaggerated
A friend of mine, a young widowed mother, lives alone with her two young daughters. Two days ago she received the following SMS message on her mobile phone.
You have a lovely house. I didn’t touch the television.
At first she thought this was someone pulling a prank on her. She tried calling the number that the SMS was sent from but got no answer. For two nights she hardly slept a wink, worried sick that some weird serial killer was stalking her. I’ll come back to this episode in a minute.
There was a time, in the not so distant More >
The 2000 Year Old Man, 50 Years On
The 2000 Year Old Man sketches originated in a party when Carl Reiner started asking his friend Mel Brooks a few ad-lib questions that resulted in some hilarious answers and kept the guests laughing for over two hours. According to an interview the two gave to Ari Karpel of the New York Times they came up with the idea in a lull in the writers room of “Your Show of Shows” for which they both wrote.According to Reiner:
I always knew if I threw a question to Mel he could come up with something… I remember the first question I asked him. More >

Susan Boyle: The Album – The Dream Becomes Reality. A review of her debut album
A while ago, in my review of Susan Boyle’s rendition of Wild Horses, ,I noted that only time will tell whether the latest reality show, overnight success story is here for the run or just another passing event. Finally the album has been released and has been playing on my IPhone for the last 48 hours. Fully expecting a bunch of much chewed on covers of popular standards, I approached the album with the full intent of tearing it apart. I am happy to say that I was wrong. The 12 songs on I Dream a Dream fit Susan like a glove and More >

The story behind her culinary dish has been handed down from generation to generation. While younger sister Joan was being condemned for heresy and taken to the stake to be burned alive in front of the masses, Marie was cooking beaf steaks for her family. A concerned friend of Joan’s came running into the More >

People who don’t use Deodorant should be Outlawed, With Apologies to Julia Roberts
Dear Sir or Madam. As a daily train commuter with quite a bit of tenure, I feel that I have the right to enjoy as pleasant a journey as possible on your trains. For some reason kept to yourselves you seem to think otherwise. Though I have written several letters to the Train Board, you have yet to agree to my simple request of being able to chose whom I sit next to. How inconsiderate is that? It’s not as if I’m asking to be seated next to supermodels every Monday, once in a while would be fine. What really annoys me More >
Joni’s Rock Corner: Thru You – Kutiman: Music for the next generation
What do you get when you take multiple samples of different musicians found on Youtube and fuse them all together. You’d think it would result in complete chaos but not when Ophir Kutiel, fondly known as Kutiman, takes the controls.
In his initial project, ThruYOU 1, Kutiman mixed samples of Youtube videos. Time Magazine called it one of the 50 best inventions of 2009. When you listen to the collage of musicians it is sometimes hard to accept that each group / artist is playing a different piece and style of music and it’s really the genius of Kutiman’s editing that More >
Tommy Cooper: Hilarious Magical Moments
Tommy Cooper may not have been the most likable person of stage, he was infamous for his bad drinking habits and pathological meanness, but onstage he was as unique as they come and a legend in his owntime. Whether he was a comic pretending to be a magician or vice versa is still debatable and for you to judge. Here are some examples of what made him a great comedian,if not a great magician. When he was eight years old his aunt bought him a magic set with which spent hours playing with it and perfecting the tricks. More >
