If you haven’t realized yet, I am a diehard classic rock fan. As me and my moustache grew older my taste in music remained and though I often listen to pop music, rock and blues is still where it’s at for me – I even recently sat through the director’s cut of Woodstock. My brother, Joni, takes his classic rock disease much more seriously than yours truly and daily surfs the high waves of the internet for items of special interest. His finds are often so precious that I have decided to give him a regular column of his own. He provides the music, I’ll drum out the words.
So here is the first post from Joni’s Rock Corner
There are so many lists out on the web, the best this, the best that, the best of the other. ProgArchives  seems to me to be the Bible of progressive rock. It has everything. In their words:

You can find the progressive rock music discographies from 4,723 bands & artists, 24,531 albums (LP, CD and DVD), 205,374 ratings and reviews from 25,558 members in our active forum

You can spend days on this site. I was amazed at how many great albums out there I am missing.

Progressive Rock would have been long forgotten if not for Pink Floyd.  Here are three ultra interesting links

The Making of the Dark Side of the Moon, the documentary that reveals magic behind the music.
In August 1995 an article was published showing how if you synchronise the Dark Side of the Moon with the movie the Wizard of Oz the results are outstanding. Over the years the pairing has become mainstream resulting in an officical Turner movie screening on their cable channel in July 2000.
Wikepedia and Synchronicity Arkive  will provide you with a full background.
Here is the pairing itself for you to judge:
