I was out shopping with my wife. Actually she was shopping and I was there to carry whatever she bought. That’s what marriage is all about, right?  While she is seriously preoccupied in the   changing room I sit down on the only available chair and listen to the music being beamed through invisible speakers hidden between last year’s mini skirts and next years pre burned jeans. The song is catchy. I know it is familiar but I just can’t seem to place it.

You know I got a woman
And she lives in the poor part of town
I go to see her sometimes
And we make love so fine.

The female vocalist is  basically whispering the words and it was only when she reached the chorus that I realised what I was hearing:

Daddy, your a fool to cry
A fool to cry
And it makes me wonder why.

Generally studio covers of pop hits are not my cup of tea. I’ve heard numerous Beatle covers, symphony montrosities of Queen and even an operatic rendering of the Wall, but this time I was knocked off my feat. Taking Richards & Jaggers rock classics and transposing them into soft romantic renditions with a bossa nova beat actually works. So much so that they immediately came out with a sequel Bossa n stones 2.
Apart from Fool to Cry you get  beautiful covers of Mixed Emotions, Under My thumb and plenty more. If you really want to get carried away you can splurge for the Bossa n’ Roses and Bossa N’ Marley albums. Me, I’ll just op to spend my night together  with the stones.
